Labor Day is Nearly Here, Again!

Trip to Cape Charles

Labor Day Weekend means the unofficial end of summer and our annual cruise to Cape Charles.  This year, we  have 15 boats confirmed to make the trip across the Bay to Cape Charles Town Harbor Marina from the York River.

The weekend will kick off Friday evening, September 4, with our (COVID) regular Commodore’s Cocktail Party with the fleet departing for Cape Charles Saturday morning.

This year, sailing vessels are invited to participate in a Fun Pursuit Race. This race has staggered start times to avoid a crowd at the start line. More information will be provided by our Race Captain Joran. Motor Vessels are on their own, however we could go over as a fleet.  M/V Ezra will be leaving YRYH around 9:30 AM on Saturday morning . Any motor vessel that wants to make the crossing together can meet up at R22 at 10:30 AM.

Because of the current COVID-19 conditions, our traditional the pot luck buffet will not be held. We are looking into alternative event.   But plan on BYOB and food and please follow the VDH COVID-19 guidelines as much as possible.

YRYC will provide two golf carts for members to use. Contact Commodore Don for details.

Upon entering the harbor at Cape Charles, boat captains should hail the Cape Charles Harbor Master on VHF 16 for slip assignments and directions.
