Commodore’s Letter to the Club
2021 Happy New Year! As we all know, 2020 has been a difficult year for York River Yacht Club. Social distancing, ever changing and sometimes last minute limitations & restrictions on social gatherings and the cancellations of many of the club’s annual cruising/racing events made things a little challenging. Through it all, York River Yacht Club board members and club members stayed positive and offered creative ways to have Commodore’s Cocktail Hour virtually, a few events within the recommended guidelines and impromptu game nights. The club also welcomed many new members to the club.
I feel as though we made the best out of 2020, considering the hurdles that we endured with the unexpected changes to our normal club activities throughout the year. This could not have been possible without the creativity and dedication from our board members to make these things happen.
2021 is here and I am pleased to have the opportunity to serve as the new Commodore for the York River Yacht Club. The board members and I look forward to seeing all of you in the upcoming months, whether it be in person or virtual. Keep an eye out on the club’s website calendar for the new upcoming events for 2021.
Although we may be faced with challenges along the way, we will strive to do our very best to make this another fun and successful year.
